I never expected this - Life is Good!

You know when you have one of those days where you never expect something great is going to happen?  Today was one of those days.
I was at Michaels this afternoon and preparing for a Stamping Gear class when the Assistant Manager, Allan, approached me and asked if it was okay for a lady to sit in my classroom while she waited for Wheeltrans. (Free Transportation provided to residents who have difficulty getting around themselves). Of course it was fine with me.
This customer is visually impaired and Allan guided her into the room and sat her comfortably on the other side of the room.
I introduced myself and my student and gave her a brief explanation of the class I was about to teach. At that point a light bulb went off in my head and the more I explained, the more I realized that I could teach her how to make a card and use this tool.

I described the tools to her and guided her hands to the gear and paddle. Giving her clues like remembering that 'smooth to smooth' helped her place the correct side of the cling stamp to the paddle.
I asked her to feel the notches of the gear and the pointed ends on the paddle.  Once she was oriented, she started stamping!!

The look on her face was beyond joy. I was really taken aback by her response and it filled me with shear happiness.

At that point her WheelTrans driver arrived to escort her to the bus. She thanked me, asked for my card, and will be returning to sign up for a class with me.  

On my way home from the store I thought of a few more ideas and ways to adapt the class.

How does this sound? On one of the cards I will use chunky embossing powder and on another, glitter.  This way she will truly be able to feel and hopefully see her creation.

What a day! The smile hasn't left my face.
